I've met Tom through Mary and Quanah.
I was Tom roomate for two years.
Wanted to thank Mary and Tom for helping us through our journey, and Walsh family for being big part of our lifes.
Thanking Tom for accepting us in your home and being a great roomate, friend, dad, uncle and all the above. You've taught us so much and we will always carry those lessons with us.
We've made tons of memories with you and I wanted to share a few.
Favorite one: Chasing sofia around the house and saying "come here little girl" (you and sofia laughing while I was trying to decide if it was appropriate or not) shake my head.
two: Riding sofias tricycle inside your house (enjoy yourself while sofia says get off my bike)
three: Being an uncle and friend to my daughter always watching over her and making sure she was okay. Even when you sat down and said that was the worst movie. (I'm sorry)
Four: Teaching, how to fill air in my tires when I had no clue what I was doing.
Five: Letting me practing cutting your hair and beard. Not long ago you decided to let cut all your hair. Had great conversations with you and wish I can hear more about trips to California, Florida, and etc.
Six: Teaching; how to use your lawnmower, and snow blower so, you didn't have to do it.
Had a Mexican do it for you. (Lol) It was one of our jokes.
Seven: Our last memory together we spent on Christmas eve to Christmas day morning. It was Mary, Sergeant, Stella, Sofia, and I. You guys had pizza before I got there from work. We got to play Junga and you wouldn't want to stop playing. Then sofia wanted to watch a movie and we kept searching for something to watch then you had this one movie you wanted to watch. But Mary, sofia, and I weren't interested in. It was just to old and boring. Then Mary and you recommend to watch this movie I can't remember. Anyways you and Mary were having a blast; mostly Mary. Go Mary. We stay up pretty late, you've sliced a cutie for sofia like a chef (professional) Mary really like it and made popcorn. Over all we had a blast. Then next morning you didn't make us breakfast.. you weren't up for it. It's okay
Your always going to be our buddy! I'm really going to miss you Tom! And Mary asking me to stop by and checking up on you. Bothering you every time I'm bored or need a girl to talk too or a babysitter. Over all you're great! We're going to really miss you a lot! So, many memories that will never be forgotten carry you through our hearts.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Thomas?
A: Tom was always fun to be with. We often went to Vegas, Tahoe for skiing, and would boat with Mike. Tom had a great attitude, and didn't take thing too seriously, even when he did poorly at something. Like the last time we went to Vegas together, when we went trap shooting, he didn't hit a single clay pigeon, and at ax throwing, he didn't get a single ax to stick, but he took it in stride. Lesser people would get upset, but not Tom.
Tom was game to try adventurous things. Like when boating with Mike once, he asked to be thrown up in the air as high as possible on the innertube so he could get a cool computer desktop photo. Mike whipped him around, he hit our wake, got launch 6' in the air, and still hung on while flipping upside down! He fell out, wasn't hurt, and was laughing on his way to the boat.
Tom was good at goofing around. In Vegas around Halloween, he borrowed a private security shirt from me for his costume, and had fun taking pictures around Vegas with real security guards on the job. Tom even stopped and directed traffic once that night so a group of us could cross the intersection!
I miss Tom, but will always cherish the good times that we had together.

Dearest Mike, Mary, Emma, Quanah, Sienna, and Sean
Our sincerest condolences on the way too premature loss.
Tommy will forever be in our thoughts and his laugh will never get out of our heads! Always a joy to meet up with him and always had great conversations. He not only had amazing insight but could always put a humorous twist to anything he said. It is still too shocking and sad. May we all find peace in the fact he would take many opportunities to enjoy life and affected the lives of many in such a positive manner.
Love to you all.

RIP Uncle Tommy. The man who taught me how to shave (pre-puberty). Who shared his SunChips, stuffed chicken breasts, and Fudgesicles. So many memories. Invading the basement to watch wrestling with you, the exploding pool, the wave runner + boat crash (and all your lost sunglasses), the Mary and guest bedroom scene, Mary ripping your arm hair off with some weed whacker. Whenever I watch Shrek - I’ll think of you. You always created an aura of comfort. You always had a smile and questioned things in the most lighthearted of ways. It hurts that you’re gone but I’ll always remember you with the happiest of memories. Hope to see you again!

When I first met Tom my first semester at SIU I didn't realize that this friendly, talkative and kinda nerdy accounting student would become one of my oldest and dearest friends. But even after leaving SIU and moving to California, Tom and I still kept in touch. Whenever I'd fly home to Illinois, one of the highlights would always be my annual pilgrimage to Tom's place in Hanover Park so that we could play video games at Dave and Busters. I'd try, usually unsuccessfully, to keep Tom from wasting his money playing the claw games to win and endless series of stuffed animals and other 'prizes'. Together with a friend of mine from California, Nathan Webb, we met up for Vegas and Reno trips nearly every year for over 20 years, sometimes even going twice a year. We hit the cheap blackjack tables, shot machine guns, rode epic zip lines hundreds of feet in the air, wore out nearly every roller coaster on the Strip and in Primm, played games at Tom's favorite location: the Pinball Hall of Fame, and woke up with sore throats after cheering for our Craps rolls. Never have so many celebrated so much for winning so little. Tom always was one of the friendliest and most outgoing people playing blackjack at 1am, and even a year or two later he'd often remember the life story of a dealer the next time he'd see them.....which amazed me and Nathan, since we have the memories of goldfish. Like me he was a kid at heart, and his infectious laugh and positive attitude made those trips something that I'd look forward to all year long and something I will miss forever. He was a wonderful listener and helped me through some of the toughest times of my life, always with a smile on his face and some great off-color jokes. The world is a sadder place without my friend in it, but I will always be thankful for having known him.

Tommy you will truly be missed. I will cherish all the memories of you growing up from a kid to a man. I will remember your smile, your witty remarks, your cool stance while you hold a conversation and most of all, how wonderful it was to be around you. I loved to tease you and wait for your comeback remarks. Your sister will truly miss you but I know you will always be with her and your loved ones. Rest Tommy but know we all will miss you and we love you.

Still in shock and really at a loss for words. But know that I loved you my friend, even if you were Irish !
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rains fall softly upon your fields
Until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand

It was nice that we all happened to go on vacation together in November. Frank and I had dinner with Tommy, Mary and Mike a couple of times. We hung out at the beach which I know Tommy liked.

Although I have never me Thomas, I feel I knew him because of the positive impact he had on my family. They all met him at my Aunt Bridie's funeral and were immediately taken with his warmth and friendliness. They talked and reminisced about him for weeks. I'm sorry I never got through chance to meet him and wish him eternal peace as he is reunited with his departed Irish loved ones.

To the family of Tom Walsh:
I hired Tom at Henry Crown many years ago. Tom was a pleasure to work with and was a very hard and conscientious accountant.
It was always fun to chat with Tom and he was present at my retirement party.
I am sure he will be greatly missed.
My sincere condolences to his friends and family.
Sincerely
Mike Murphy
