My mom Doris Mader was a friend of Shirley's and she worked for her so they spent lots of time together. Shirley knew how much Doris wanted grandkids. But she didn't have any when she died. When we adopted a baby girl 15 years ago, to our surprise we had a gift from Shirley, a Madame Alexander baby doll, with a note, your mom said to send this. A few years later a stuffed angel, named Joy, and again a few years later a doll with a trousseau . The note said Doris tapped me on the shoulder. Shirley was special !!
