Obituary of LaVerne Wennerstrom
LaVerne “Pinky” Wennerstrom nee Pinkham, age 86, of Wheeling. Beloved wife of the late Donald G Wennerstrom for 54 years. Loving mother of Gail (Darrell) Ramsey Sr., Gary Wennerstrom, Curt Wennerstrom, Casey Wennerstrom, Krist Wennerstrom, Karin (Robert) Owczarski, and the late Julie Pat Wennerstrom. Dear grandmother of Darrell (Jodi) Ramsey II, Lisa (Tom) Stewart-Morony, Ashley (Kevin) Kivi, Cody Wennerstrom, Emily and Adam Owczarski. Great grandmother of Julie, Jessie, Kassidy, Darrell III, Taylor and Gemma. Aunt and cousin of many.
Pinky lived a very active life; she was a wife of a Knight from the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph the Worker. Pinky and her late husband Don chaired the Knights’ donut Sundays for over 15 years where they offered fresh donuts and hot coffee along with fellowship to the Parishioners after mass. Pinky was a fixture at all of the KC functions and could be found in the church’s kitchen prepping food for their Lenten Fish Fries. She helped in the soup kitchen and the Yellow Ribbon Campaign. Pinky volunteered at the Wheeling Senior Center and AMVETS Post 66. Partied with the Red Hats, Silver Singles, Dunhurst Moms, Wednesday Breakfast Club and Steinmentz Ladies Luncheons. She still had time to bake her “Famous Double Chocolate Brownies” for any and all occasions.
Visitation Thursday 3-8 pm at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling. Funeral Prayers Friday 10:00 am at the Funeral Home and process to St. Joseph the Worker Parish for a 10:30 am Life Celebration Mass. Cremation Private.
