Dorothy L. Tansey (AKA Handley, Welch)
Dorothy Lorraine Handley passed peacefully on the morning of November 6, 2019 in Jackson, MI, in the presence of her children (Dorothy) Anne, John, and William Welch, who survive her. Dorothy was born on November 22, 1935 in Jackson, Michigan to Harold E. Handley and Lorraine (Werner) Handley. She is survived by her beloved brother Edward Handley, her three children John, William and Anne, grandchildren Cory Welch, Alex Welch, Lucy Welch, Nina Welch, Bill Welch, Courtney Welch, Margaret Welch and Michael Welch, and niece Barbara Huggett and nephew Bob Handley. Dot was passionate about many things, but especially music and horses. She spent many hours singing and playing the piano. In her younger years, she sang with the North Shore Harmonizers located in Winnetka, IL., *https://www.northshoreharmonizers.org/). Dot loved all animals, but especially loved horses. She adopted an elephant from the Lincoln Park Zoo, she also contributed to World Wide Fund, for endangered species. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Equine Advocates Rescue and Sanctuary (https://realityschance.org/) or (https://www.equineadvocates.org/) organizations devoted to rescuing and giving sanctuary for slaughter-bound, abused and neglected horses. Also, we know Dot would appreciate contributions to the National Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/.
