Obituary of Paul Crane Hewett Jr.
Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Thursday January 7th, 2021, Paul Crane Hewett Jr., the legendary "Gramps", "Brother Paul" and "Mr. Hewett" passed peacefully in his sleep in Lake Forest, IL. Paul was born 9/26/51 in Washington D.C. He loved music, books, instruments, photography, gardening, working with wood and most especially, his family. Nothing was more treasured by him than his role as Gramps. Paul's passion and talent for woodworking led to a career as a custom cabinet maker and recording studio builder. Paul spent most of his life in Wilmette, IL before moving to Iron River, MI in 2003. Paul is preceded in death by his father Paul Crane Hewett Sr. and is survived by his mother Marion Hewett (Canby). Paul is the loving father of Karin (Brett) Campbell and Jeremy (Jen) Hewett. Adored grandfather of Easton, Noah, Cooper, Nolan, Mason, Laurie and Addison. Cherished brother of Hobey (Laura) Hewett, Anne Hewett, Nancy Waldron, Susan (Tom) Tisch, Cathy (Rick) Grundel and Charley Hewett. Loving uncle, cousin, and friend to many. While he will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing the blessing he was to all who knew him.
Services will be postponed until we can celebrate appropriately with his friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to these fine organizations in honor of his first true love. https://www.saveourstages.com/#donate or www.grammy.com/musicares/donations.
