Obituary of Ingvar Danielsson

Please share a memory of Ingvar to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ingvar Danielsson, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 7th, 2021 with his family by his side. Ingvar is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ingalill; daughter Nanette (Roy), grandchildren Allissa (Troy Sieburg), Derrik (Emma), Nicholas; his favorite furry friends Maya and Cora; brother Arthur (Gun-Britt), Sister-in-Law Margareta Danielsson and numerous family members in Sweden. Preceeded in death by his parents, brother Gunnar Danielsson and niece Maria Danielsson. Born to Daniel and Maria in Falun, Sweden on September 17, 1932, Ingvar lived a full life surrounded by friends and family near and far. He served in the Swedish coast guard before he immigrated to the US in 1958. A hard-working mason, he worked as a bricklayer for many years constructing buildings to beautiful fireplaces. He retired in 1994. He loved to travel and take long road trips through the countryside and of course stopping for fika along the way. A proud Swede, Ingvar was a member of many Swedish clubs in the Chicago area over the years where he could celebrate his heritage. His love for the music of his roots was infectious and getting to dance with him was a gift as he guided you across the dance floor. He was an expert at dressing a maypole for midsummer celebrations and was a master glögg maker to help keep you warm in the winter. Always ready to share when you stopped in for a visit. Ingvar lived in Elmhurst, IL with his family for 43+ years where he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bensenville, IL before moving to Prospect Heights, IL. Ingvar was a giving unselfish man who volunteered 20+ years at the Bensenville / Wood Dale Food Pantry helping those in need. Back in the day, he was also an avid golfer which allowed him some playtime with his bricklayer friends. When winter rolled around you can bet, he had a hockey game on. Whether the Blackhawks or a junior league, he loved a good hockey match. This was also true of each of his grandchildren’s sports adventures. No matter their sport of choice, Morfar was always in the stands cheering them on with pride with Mormor by his side. Ingvar’s biggest passion was his wife and family. A kinder man that embodied everything good, you will never meet. He was a proud, humble, hardworking man that believed in strong family values. Not a day went by where he wouldn’t say “I met another nice person today”. He has touched the hearts of many with his kindness and generosity. The door to their home was always open, ready to greet friends and family alike. We will miss his warm smile, twinkle in his eye, his funny unexpected sense of humor and the stories of days gone by that he loved to share. Per his wishes, we will be foregoing any services. We will instead celebrate his life when it is safe for us to gather again and can travel back to his home country where he will be laid to rest. Remembrance donations can be made to the Bensenville – Wood Dale Food Pantry 192 S Center Street, Bensenville, IL 60106 or Rainbow Hospice P.O.
