Obituary of Sven Julius Carlson

Sven Julius Carlson, age 87 of Hawthorn Woods, passed away peacefully into the presence of Jesus, surrounded by his loving family at Good Shepherd Hospital on Monday, March 8th, 2021. He was born April 10th, 1933 in St. Paul Minnesota and grew up in Linkoping, Sweden. He is the son of the late Oscar and Lilly (nee Andersson) Carlson. Julius will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He had a heart of compassion and love for others. He spent many years helping families and children around the world, using his time and talents to serve others. Julius is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois F. (nee Edwards) Carlson, married on September 7th, 1957; his children, Ken (Jan) Carlson, Julie (John) Purtell, Sandra Carlson; his grandchildren, April (Adam) Chrestenson, Mark (Allison) Carlson, Matthew, Elizabeth, and Daniel Purtell; his great grandchildren, Addison, Annalise, and Ava Chrestenson, Emmett and Olivia Carlson; his brothers Larry, Oscar, Andrew Carlson, and sister Lillian (Vince) Grondahl. Loving uncle and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Roland and Paul Carlson. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 10th at 1pm at Christian Life Church, 400 E Gregory St., Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julius’ memory may be made to Christian Life Church for Caminul Felix Romania Orphanage where he and his wife supported the work with their time and talents.
