Raimund Lotter devoted his professional life to enhance German American business relations: as director at the Klafs Sunlight corporation and in particular during his tenure at the German American Chamber of Commerce from 1994 to 2013 and as representative of Hessen from 1991 to 2006. Raimund stayed always faithful to his German roots . He was a co-founder of the Chicago chapter of the Deutsch Amerikanische National Kongress (DANK) and served the association for many years as member of the board. In Chicago he might be most remember by his leadership to bringing the Chicago Christkindlmarket to life after 1996. For his invaluable contribution to German American friendship he was awarded the highest German decoration of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Order of Merit in 2014.The German American community in Chicagoland will remember him fondly. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Dear family of Ray! We want to send our sincere condolences to all of you and we would like to share a little memory: after our first season at the Christkindlmarket we traveled in Africa. We had just left shore on a sail boat on Lake Malawi/Southern Africa, when the phone rang. It was Ray who wanted to talk to us about our options for the next season (Block 37 was no longer available for the market). This was in 2005 and miraculously the phone connection on the lake was stable. We were actually able to have a quick talk. His first sentence: Lake Malawi? - wo ist das denn? Ray was a long time member of the Northwest Men’s Golf League at Buffalo Grove Golf Course. Many, many fond memories of playing golf and hanging out afterward with Ray. He also went on several trips to Biloxi, Mississippi with a group of us from the league. I will miss Ray very much. John Young
