Obituary of Doris S Forslev
Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris Susanne Forslev sang her last song at 90 years old on 6/3/21.
She was born in Chicago, IL. As an only child, Doris was raised by her mother Susanne Mohr and her grandparents Mary and Nick Krich.
She found a love of music at an early age and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Al Forslev noticed Doris playing piano at her Lutheran church when they were teenagers and proclaimed “I’m going to marry that girl one day”. They married in 1952.
Doris owned and operated a family business “Forslev’s Jewelry Supplies” for many years and was smart, kind, reasonable and reliable. She loved opera and classical music and liked watching deer and songbirds from her home in Riverwoods, IL. Doris and Al loved traveling and took their kids on many adventures including tent camping all over the lower USA, Canada and Alaska. Later in life they enjoyed international travel to China, Britain, Singapore and Europe.
Her caregivers loved her charming personality and especially her frequent use of the word “nincompoop”. Doris is preceded in death by her husband Albert William Forslev and infant daughter Elizabeth Ann. She is survived by her children Susanne Young, Cynthia Forslev (Marcia Trenary), William Forslev (Julie Forslev), grand children Emily Sanford (Joel Sanford) and Cameron Young and great grand children James and Juliet Sanford. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joyce and Roger Nagel, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. A virtual remembrance will be held at a later date.
