Folks
It is with great sadness that I report the loss of one of the very first Supercub.org members and friend. Mark Rusche has passed on to the next life. He was a great friend and one I will certainly miss. It is pretty smokey in here as I write this.
I met Mark through this website back at the very beginning. I had just moved to Poplar Grove (1999) and saw on the site that he lived nearby. He had purchased his PA12 but did not have his private pilots license and no tail wheel time. After he got his license I gave him a TW endorsement in his PA12 which I was privileged to fly many times over the years. Mark was a naturally gifted pilot and though he did not have a lot of hours he was quite skilled and I was never worried about his ability. He was a good pilot and a good friend.
As many of you know, Mark got prostate cancer several years ago and it has been a struggle since. He always maintained a great attitude and often talked about going back to Alaska and fishing, never giving up hope.
We shared a number of adventures over the last 22 years and I was Blessed to have his friendship. I always knew, if I needed anything at all, Mark would be there for me. That type of loyalty is getting pretty rare.
Mark and Karen were married for close to 40 years. High school sweethearts. They stayed together through it all. Karen will no doubt feel the loss deep in her heart. May the Lord give her strength now.
Thank you Mark. God Bless you my friend.
