Leonor, Jon, Steve,
Please accept my deepest sympathies and condolences on the passing of John, your loving husband and father, my prayers and thoughts are with you.
I was privileged to have known John for almost 50 years and did we ever make a lifetime of beautiful and happy memories. Our friendship started because of the 1970 Saint Gregory high school girls graduating class. A loving group of girls who became friends for life and a few of them even let their husbands tag along for their fantastic ride.
Thinking back, we attended each other’s weddings in the 70’s, saw all our children be born and then watched them all get married and give us grandchildren. We were all so blessed with our families.
Fun times and vacations – too many to count, some very memorable, others not so much. The early days of going to Lake Lawn Lodge, the many weekends to Lake Carroll with the bonfires, s’mores and even power outages and then later our getaways to Door County. And of course all the great cruises, the all-inclusives to Mexico, the fantastic Italy/Greece trip and the Panama Canal cruise. But it was our first trip that we always talked and laughed about the most, our trip to Niagara Falls and Canada with baby Kristy in the back seat between you and Leonor. We get to Toronto, go to book our room at this hotel and we walk right into a “hooker’s convention” being held there, the best part of the trip.
There were so many other happy times like the annual Christmas parties that started with the couples and grew to families and then including grandkids. You always put a big smile on everyone’s face as you enjoyed your role of SC. You also had a special talent for storytelling. No matter how strange or corny they were you had this “delivery” of the story or joke that was unmatched that everyone loved and always laughed at. And you got to see your Cubbies win a World Series.
My dear friend, my brother, we shared a great life. These wonderful memories you shared with us will be alive and talked about for years to come.
I love you John and I’m sure going to miss you! Dick.
