Obituary of Sue Korte

Sue (nee Booker) Korte, age 88 passed away Monday, July 18, 2022. Preceded in death by her husband Lester M. Korte (1996). Beloved mother of Donald L. (Laurie), Jeffrey A. (Andrea), and Cathryn S. (Louis Veguilla), adored by her only granddaughter Isabel. Born in Gwinn, MI, Sue was the youngest of eight siblings, all deceased. Born in the Depression, raised in Gwinn, MI she moved to Evanston, IL and graduated ETHS in 1951. Stay at home mom, then career woman for a travel agency, she traveled the world but loved being at home and loved being with family, both immediate and extended. Sue led her daughter's Girl Scout troop and was the quintessential Avon lady for many years, more for the joy of spending time with friends and neighbors than anything else. She was known for her beer can hats, her crocheted and knitted blankets and her incredible handmade quilts. Later in life she was a director on the board of the Wheeling Historical Society and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a proper lady in the best sense of the word and will be missed by all who knew her.
