An old Irish Proverb states: “The older the fiddle the sweeter the tune.” His tune will play in our hearts forever. Ted C. Scanlon, age 92, of Wheeling. Beloved Husband of the late Grace nee Krueger. Loving father of Penny (James) Swift, Dave (Oliva) Scanlon, Regina (Richard) Weber, Paul (Sherry) Scanlon and the late Sally Kowal, Debbie (Wayne) Milarski. Dear Grandpa of Chance (Kris), Carrie (Kevin), Corey, Tom (Kristin), Jodie (Jamey), Derek, Jamie (Brandon), Jenni, David, Scout, Chris, Anthony, Johnny, Jourden and Cole. Great Grandpa of Amber, Dakota, Riley, Maxx, Addison, Gavin, Keegan and Alexis. Fond Brother of Dolores Scanlon, Joyce (John) Brown, Shirley (late Joe) Riddle, Sharon (James) Murray, Ed (late Helen) Scanlon and the late Jack (Toni) Scanlon and Betty (late Glenn) Schmidt. Cherished Son of the late Walter Scanlon and the late Margaret nee McGovern. Uncle and Cousin of many and Best Friend of Willow. Ted was a lifelong active citizen of Wheeling. He served as Mayor1965-1977, Past President of the Northwest Municipal Conference 1968, Police Magistrate, Volunteer Fireman, Founding member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, First Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus – Regina Chapter, SSGT Army WWII Soldier and the town milkman. Ted loved to spend his evenings outside surrounded by his friends and family with an ice cold Old Style. Ted was welcomed to his heavenly home by his wife, Grace, and two daughters, Sally and Debbie. Funeral Prayers Wednesday 9:15 am at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (2 Blocks South of Dundee Road) Wheeling followed by a 10:00 am Life Celebration Mass at St. Joseph the Worker.
