It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a renowned doctor and Chicago legend, Dr. Marshall Dickholtz Sr., Board Certified NUCCA Practitioner, internationally recognized researcher and humanitarian. Dr. Marshall Dickholtz Sr., born and raised in Chicago, passed away peacefully this morning in his home from natural causes. He was 91 years old and was physically and mentally active and continued to practice until 2 months prior to his death.
Dr. Marshall Dickholtz Sr. was one of 24 Board Certified NUCCA doctors worldwide and a founding director of the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association (NUCCA) and the Upper Cervical Research Foundation (UCRF). Dr. Dickholtz was a leader within his profession and was recognized for many of his distinguished accomplishments throughout his life. He was in inventor, researcher and entrepreneur. He has invented several diagnostic tools to help NUCCA doctors recognize and address atlas misalignment.
In 1994, he was presented with the David D. Palmer Scientific award medal. In 1995 he received, the distinguished Ralph Gregory Achievement Award and the Achievement Award from the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association. His major contribution to spinal care and research has been noted when he was awarded the Chiropractor of the year award, by the International Chiropractors association in 2006/07 and 2008. In 2007 he was given the National Upper Cervical Association Scientific Award. In 2008 he was elected to the Fellowship of the International Chiropractors Association F.I.C.A. He received the National Upper Cervical Association Clinical Research award in 2012.
He was committed to the advancement of NUCCA and research which led to international recognition for his work on the impact of a misalignment at the level of the brain-stem and his successful results with autism,improvement of cardiovascular health, reduction in blood pressure, chronic fatigue syndrome, to name just a few. His major contribution to spinal care and research has been noted and he has many of his research articles published. His most profound research in medicine has been the connection of the Atlas (top vertebra) adjustment and the lowering of blood pressure.
He is described by his peers as a man who put passionate effort into life’s purpose with his devotion and dedication to changing the lives of the patients he took care of in his 60 years of practice, delivering care to over ten thousand patients. At his last attended NUCCA conference this past year, he received an emotional five minute standing ovation from his peers.
He retired on August 1st of this year, however he continued to do research in his retirement.
Dr. Marshall Dickholtz, Sr. is survived by his wife of 61 years of marriage, Mary Ann Dickholtz, their two children, Dr. Sherry Gaber and Dr. Marshall Dickholtz, Jr., his daughter-in-law Lisa Palmer Dickholtz and his two grandchildren Austin Palmer Dickholtz and Autumn Nicole Dickholtz.He is also survived by his sister Marian Staff and many nieces and nephews.
His tireless energy, passion for chiropractic and love for humanity will be deeply missed.Visitation Friday 3-8pm at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S Milwaukee Ave. Wheeling, IL.
