He always took such wonderful care in preparing our Sisters, Servants of Mary for burial, and having great respect, and a gracious presence as long as I can remember. I know you will miss him greatly. Our relationship with Lou goes back to the Division St. days. Lou, Carolyn and the entire Kolssak family have been dear friends for life. I will always be especially grateful for the kindness, compassion and generosity he showed my late mother throughout her long term illness. She was handicapped and confined to a wheelchair. Lou and Carolyn included my mother in their lives in every way imaginable. Prayer groups, social events and even vacations to name a few. This meant the world to me and my family. Having known Lou was an honor. He was the epitome of class! We will never forget Lou.
Love,
Linda and Kyle Nikolich

I will miss Lou so very much. His visit to the Cubs club with his "posse" was always entertaining. His pretend gruff only added to the humor. He was a dear man, with a good and generous heart. Goodbye, Lou. My heart aches, Luz

My heartfelt condolences to Carolyn and the Kolssak family. Lou and I attended St,Mel High School and we both played in the band (Lou - tuba, me -saxophone). He was always great fun to be around, especially our practice sessions with director Tom Fabish.
The fun and laughter was reignited with the formation of the St.Mel '52 Romeo Group (Romeo =Retired Old Men Eating Out) luncheons in 2000, preparing for the 50th anniversary of graduation (2002). Lou always brought smiles and laughter to all the Romeo luncheons he attended. His great sense of humor, quick wit, and even his serious side, always added to to our luncheon. He will be truly missed, and I pray that Lou,now has been welcomed into God's heavenly home, and granted everlasting peace. Thanks for the good times Lou, Tony Rupsis -

Carolyn and the entire Kolssak family,
Lou was a classy, humorous, loving professional. He lived the Gospel by serving and comforting God's people. Throughout many years I always knew what to expect when a call came from Kolssak funeral home whether it was a smile, a joke, or simple handshake. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with all of us. May God comfort you as Lou comforted so many others in his lifetime, and may God hold Lou in the palm of his hand.
Blessings,
Fr. Hal Stanger

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Lou Kolssak. I grew up by the original Kolssak's on Division & Kildare and attended many a service there up until I moved in the mid 80's. Your family was always professional, courteous, & one could always sense a genuine concern. I have fond memories of the old neighborhood & the pillars of the business community that made it a great place to grow up in the 60's & 70's, of which the Kolssak family was a part of. I was touched to read Carolyn Kolssak's biography and that of her son. We know Lou is now in the arms of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and congratulated for a job well done on earth and that one day you will all be reunited again. My deepest sympathy to the entire Kolssak family.
