Obituary of Albert Reif

Cmdr. Albert E. Reif Jr. “Papa” age 84 of Las Vegas, Formerly of Wheeling. Al took his final flight 3-16-2017 to be joyfully reunited in eternity with his bride, Germane, the light of his life. Devoted husband of the late Germane Reif nee Kempski for 57 years. Loving father of Chris (Susan) Reif, Connie (Bill) Hoos, Mike (Robin) Reif, and Shari (Bob) Ignoffo. Cherished grandfather of Donnie (Dawn), Bobby (Brad), Mike (Tiffany), Tommy, Billy, Natalie, Christina and Jamie. Great-grandfather of Michael, Jocelyn and the late Donald. Fond Brother of Robert (Rita) Reif and Donna (late John) Wittke. Fond uncle and friend of many. Al proudly served as a Coast Guard officer and pilot for 20 years. Al’s military assignments for he and his family included 12 different states from Alaska to Hawaii and the State of Washington then to Washington DC. Al was most proud of his Alaska earthquake rescue efforts and his appointment as commanding officer at Glenview NAS. After retirement, Al went into insurance and real estate sales. In 2000, Al and Germane moved to Las Vegas, and often traveled back to Chicago to spend time with their kids and grandkids. Visitation will be held at Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave. (two blocks south of Dundee Rd), Wheeling, from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and the funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 181 W.
