Obituary of Harry Wieder

Harry “Bud” Wieder, former longtime resident of Wheeling, IL and most recently Vernon Hills, IL passed away April 10, 2017. Born on January 5, 1928, Bud proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines and then the Army during WWII. Bud served in the South Pacific and on the Island of Okinawa with the rank of Cpl. Tech 5 Technician. He served as a heavy truck driver and auto mechanic in the 556th Battery D Army Engineer BN. He received the Army occupation medal of Japan and World War II Victory Medal. Bud worked for Nicor Gas for 35 years. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy, his sisters Doris Meacham and Shirley Wieder. Surviving are his children Patricia (Richard) Reed, Steven (Nevar) Wieder along with grandchildren Amy (Scott) Schmidt, Eric (Kim) Reed, Jamee (Jose) Marquez and great grandchildren Riley, Logan, Kahlia and Kylee. The family would also like to thank the staff at Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes and JourneyCare Hospice for the special care they provided. Visitation Monday 3-8pm at Kolssak Funeral Home 189 S Milwaukee Ave Wheeling, IL. Services Private.
