Hello Everyone. Aslam called me with the very sad news. Here is my lasting memory of your sister, mom, wife, and aunt, and grandmother.
It was just about a month ago that the Khan family and the Griggs family celebrated Christmas together on a very cold night in late December at the Khan's house on Churchill Street in Northfield. We ate--a lot--and somehow Santa had gotten unlimited use of a credit card, so there were presents--a lot--for everyone, even last minute guests like me! In years' past this annual party was larger and more boisterous, but this year it was just the right size to play one of the pretty strange board games that people had gotten as gifts.
It started off--I think--with maybe Alex, Audrey, Adam and Ashley and maybe Lindsey. But at some point I started playing, mostly because someone had to stop Adam from winning everything (no one could). And then because Darlene was looking and feeling better than I think she had felt in quite a while, she sat down with us and started playing. And then Tiffany joined us, too.
We played, and laughed, and some of us did our part to eat more. Darlene was animated, and into the game. The goal of the game was to make the players laugh by laying down a card with a photo that was like a punchline to a card with writing on it. Darlene was laughing quite a bit while playing that game, and it was her family that was making it happen. That was a very good Christmas.
