Obituary of Barbara Dsida

Barbara (nee York) Dsida passed away peacefully on October 30, 2013, one day after her 78th birthday. Barb was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, friend, sister, daughter, teacher, neighbor, and colleague. The love of her life was her husband, Douglas, with whom she shared 56 years of friendship, joy, passion, compassion, humor, and faith. Barb was as devoted to Doug as any spouse could be. She also gave endlessly to her children and was tremendously proud of them, as well as their spouses and their children. She lived most of her adult life in Des Plaines (also in Wheeling, Arlington Heights, and Sao Paulo, Brazil) and was a lifelong Cubs fan, a competitive bowler and a Jay’s Potato Chip addict. She was also an avid reader, card player, political junkie, and crossword puzzle devotee. More than anything else, Barb lived a life of love. Her home and her heart were always open to those in need. She leaves behind her husband Douglas, her sons, daughters and grandchildren. She has left them all, as well as her friends, with a legacy of love. Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8. Barb’s life and her return to God will be celebrated with a funeral Mass at Addolorata Villa , 555 McHenry Road Wheeling on Friday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. Followed by a memorial gathering in the parlor until 4 pm.
