Norma was an amazing women. Our relationship evolved over many years...first as co-workers at ITW where she became my mentor and our friendship deepened as the years went on. She helped me become the person I am today and I will always be forever grateful for that. Norma had a way of bringing out the best in people and she helped me on that path. I have many fond memories and will remember her for her generous spirit, warm smile and huge heart. May God rest her soul. May her memory be eternal.
With thoughts and love to Nancy, Frank & John and their families.

Thank you, Vicky, for your memory of Mom. IT paints a lovely and true picture of her. I know that she and you had a very warm friendship and she was very fond of you. I remember us picking you up every morning on the way to school and work back when ITW was on Higgins...often on very cold and snowy Chicago days. Love, Nancy

My sincere condolences to you, Nancy, and your family. It was my pleasure to serve Norma at the salon at Sedgebrook. I really miss her. It was no surprise to read that she had music in her blood...I found that when she spoke it was almost as though she were singing! Maybe it was in the animated way she carried herself, she was lively and always smiling. Come to think of it - she was the one who suggested we should have music playing in the salon :) (We listened.) I didn't get to have real long conversations with her (especially on days she played Canasta), but enough to know she cared and was cared for. The memorial video was a beautiful tribute for a beautiful woman. I went to Lake View too! That's special. I'm so glad you stopped in yesterday. May God bless and comfort you and your family during this very difficult time. I'll be praying for you. With love, Aidy

Thank you, Aidy. I really appreciate you sharing your memory of Mom. She was lively and always smiling...and a role model to me to try and keep a positive attitude. She really believed in that. And, she did love music, so glad that the salon is doing that now! Love, Nancy

I remember Norma. I was a new employee at ITW, and had occasion to walk past her desk several times a day. She looked busy, efficient and intimidating. One day, I noticed her name plate, and that her last name was Sobota. I remarked that Sobota was Polish for Saturday (as if she didn't know.) She turned her dazzling smile on me and we were friends. Norma introduced me to the wonderful world of the Marriott Theater in Lincolnshire. At that time our theater group totaled 10 persons, but time has a way of whittling down such groups. When we finally ended our subscriptions, a few years ago, there were only four of us remaining. When Norma decided the walking and climbing were becoming too difficult, the heart went out of our group and we gave up this tradition of so many years. Norma was truly our heart. I remember Norma, and I miss her.

Thank you, Teddie, for your nice memory of my Mom. She loved all of you in the Marriott group and really enjoyed the plays...she just loved theatre particularly the musicals! She was very sad when she could no longer attend. And, she had fond memories of you and all her friends at ITW...it was her lifeblood. Nancy

Nancy, Frank and John...,my deepest sympathy to you.
Your mom was like the big sister I never had. What a wonderful warm and special person she was. Always fun to be with and she taught me to take life’s bumps in stride. We had a fabulous time when we went to Greece. So many happy memories. I’ll miss her! You are loved and in my prayers.

Thank you, Jean. She often talked about when you were young and came to stay with her and Dad for awhile. She also always talked about the trip to Greece. She love it! I think it was her first time overseas and it made such an impression that she continued then to take several trips abroad. You and Sam offering to take her on that trip was so welcome right after Dad's death and I'll always be thankful that you took care of her in that way. Love, Nancy

Thank you Nadine, for reminding me of the wonderful trip we took to Miraval. I'm so glad you got the chance to finally meet and spend some time with my Mom. And, we got to connect with our relations from Phoenix who we hadn't seen for many years. Here are some photos of that wonderful trip. Thank you, Mom!

We love and miss you, Grandma!
I've many, many great memories of you over the years and cannot think of a single one when you weren't smiling. Your joy and energy was contagious and always lit up the room. You shared much wisdom and taught me many life lessons, including the value of hard work and the mindset to never take life too seriously.
Thank you for everything you did for our family - we love you!

I would first like to express my deepest heartfelt condolences to my dear friend Nancy and to all Norma's family.
Did you ever meet someone once, never to cross paths again but never forgot the when, where or how they made you feel? That was Norma for me.
Many years ago, I had the great pleasure of being invited to celebrate Nancy's 50th birthday at Miraval hosted by Norma. Norma was a person who brought joy to every moment. She was warm, inviting, full of life and made me feel as if we were long time friends.
I would have liked spending more time with her (who wouldn't) but geography and life simply kept that from happening. Remembering that adventure celebration at Miraval always puts a smile on my face. Thank you Norma! God Bless.
