I will miss you deeply, I will love you always, the memories I will carry with me are those of love, family union, kisses, laughs, tears, silent moments.
I keep hearing your sayings in my head, which bring me comfort.
Thank you for always being by my side, even when I made it hard to do. Thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for all the hard work and sacrifices you made for us & thank you for loving mom like your did.
Nunca nos olvidaremos de usted, I will love you now and forever.

As I sat and reflected on the 33 years I had my father in my life this past week, I can’t help but to feel an overwhelming amount of gratitude for the man he was...
77 years young, always a silent fighter. Never complained about anything in life ever. Never took a day off. Never said much - his actions spoke louder than words. Never allowed us that to feel unloved, unsupported, or unnoticed. He’d fight his demons in the dark behind closed doors, Demon by night, hero by daybreak.
As a child, I would obsessively watch you- admiring how strong you were, how hard you worked, how gentle, kind, funny, patient and nurturing you were to me. You were the perfect person. I loved you more than I loved anything in my life, you were my hero.
I couldn’t wait for the weekends to arrive because I knew that would just give me more time next to you. I remember how you would take me the lost and found at school after I was done helping you set up and let me pick one thing from there as a reward. You taught me to be humble and not greedy. You taught me that life is what you make of it - and never to complain.
Life lessons I wish to pass to you that I learned from him:
Never be ashamed of the hard honest work that brings food into your family’s mouth. Take pride in everything you do - always and I mean always do your absolute best regardless of your title. Humble yourself. You cannot gain if you do not risk, take chances and don’t look back. Family first, always. Bring your children to work with you so they too can fall in love & appreciate what it takes to make it. Weekends are for family and discovering new restaurants. Relationships regardless of who they are with - takes time and effort - it’s the little things that count. Make time for yourself and find great pleasure in the beauty this planet offers. Drink your coffee black - you can’t tell if it’s good or not otherwise. Be responsible, be on time. Respect other people’s time and privacy. Live with no regrets. Don’t allow others to narrate your version of happiness. Stubbornly be faithful to your values. Be young at heart and don’t allow yourself to get lost in the fear of the unknown. Don’t take yourself or life too seriously but always be mindful of the legacy you are leaving behind. Save, save, save. Materialistic things will never bring your happiness, music does. Plans are for suckers, live now, and be faithful to your sanity. Love your children deep. Never forget your roots. Don’t make excuses, always find solutions. Practicality, simplicity, and a little bit of grit will always pave your way. Be quiet, appreciate sitting in silence. Acknowledge when the sun rises for it is another chance to make something of that day and most of all never be afraid to be authentically imperfectly perfectly you.
I love you dad. I sorely miss you. Life will never be the same without you. I promise to watch over mom and protect her and take care of her until the road unites all of us once again. Thank you for paving the path. Thank you for setting the expectations. Thank you for giving me the tools I needed to be successful. Thank you for all of the little moments as insignificant as they were meant the world to me. Thank you for loving me so deep. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for always showing up to all of my little milestones - from running races, to basketball games, to bailing me out of the police station as a teenager, to graduating college and marathons, to all of my children’s sporting events, to celebrating the news when I became approved to become a State Farm Agent after 15 years of dedicating myself to the dream of reaching that goal... I will not let you down. Thank you for making me the woman that I am today.

Thank you grandpa for shaping me into the person I am today. I love you and I miss you. Thank you for being the best grandpa I will ever know. I miss your witty puns, I miss seeing you read those Spanish magazines on the porch, I will miss seeing you return from your bike rides, you are the only man I know to house opossums in your garage. One of the images that will last forever in my memory is seeing you in your man cave. Left side of the garage, right after the dresser with the tv and your infamous calendar. I will miss seeing you tend to your lawn, I will miss sneaking you beer and grandma yelling at us. You gave money to Vicente Fernandez before his fame because you were that type of good person; listening to chente will never be the same. Thank you for letting me eat everything in your fridge after school, while you watched 12 corazones or Sabado Gigante. Thank you for sticking by my parents when they had me. I know that was a life changing decision. Thank you for raising me along side them. Thank you for 25 years of memories. Your three phrases that I hold very dear to my heart: “apaga la luz”, “no se dice puse se dice puso”, “ay guey”, “donde esta tu abuela”. I love you and I promise to share all these memories every chance I can. Thank you.
