Obituary of Jose J. Valencia

Jose J. Valencia Medina. October 12, 1943 - March 29, 2021. Wheeling, Illinois - Jose J. Valencia, age 77, passed away at his home in Wheeling on Monday, March 29, 2021. At his time of passing, he was with whom he loved most: his wife and his three daughters. Jose was born in Purísima del Rincón, Jalisco, Mexico on October 12, 1943. He was the son of the late Marcelino and Petra (Medina) Valencia. He grew up in Mexico, served in the Mexican Armed Forces in 1963, and emigrated to the United States in 1976 where he stayed the rest of his life. Jose enjoyed returning to Mexico every summer to visit his family. Jose learned to speak English as an adult, became an American citizen, bought a home where he would spend his life, worked for the local school district, and retired with over 7 years worth of accumulated vacation and sick time. To the very end, he never took a sick day. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Antonia Valencia. Surviving him are his wife of 49 years, Victoria; his daughters, Adriana Bravo (Jorge), Gabriela Simmons (Jermaine), and Veronica Roman (Jacob); adopted son Miguel Ángel Alcazar, Jr; and his eight grandchild, Angelika and Xavier Bravo, Mya Teran, Izaiah and Cattleya Simmons, and Avian, Azaria, and Alyza Roman.
