Obituary of Elizabeth Jane Loughlin

Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Loughlin nee Young age 94 of Buffalo Grove.  Beloved wife of Peter Austin Loughlin for 66 years.  Loving mother of Pete (Dawn), Terry, Kathy (Jerry Alberte) Loughlin, Mary Beth (Neil) Schaye. Dear grandmother of Clara and Etta. Dear sister of George (Doris) Young and the late William Young.  Aunt of William, Douglas, George and Steve Young.

Betty was raised in Oswego New York and graduated from Oswego State Teachers College. She was adventurous from a young age; she learned to pilot a plane before learning to drive a car. Betty dedicated her life to education. Beginning her career in New York, she taught until she took a break to raise her family. She returned to teaching and spent over 20 years at Longfellow Elementary School in Buffalo Grove. Betty spent her free time knitting for family, friends and the homeless and needy. She was a hands-on mother and devoted grandmother. After retirement Betty and Pete traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada.

Visitation Tuesday 9:00 am at St. Edna Church 2525 N Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL followed by a 10 am Life Celebration Mass. Interment private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Edna Catholic Church Outreach Programs at 2525 N Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL 60004
